Access rules and limitations
- Domestic residential properties only, not managed properties such as nursing homes
- Items must be left out before 6.30am on collection day, at the front of the property on a pathway or driveway
- Council staff cannot enter properties, garages or outbuildings
- Maximum of 3 items per collection
- Fridges and freezers must be empty and defrosted, and mattresses and upholstered furniture must be kept dry
If you cannot move the items yourself: In exceptional circumstances council staff may help move items to the collection point, but this is entirely at the resident's own risk as it is not covered by the council's insurance
Kerbside-only rules are the norm across the UK; crews are not insured to enter your home. If nobody can get your items outside, see your options when you can't lift it.
