What Lancaster collect

Typical item list shown, not yet confirmed from Lancaster's own page (record last checked 18 August 2026). Always confirm when booking.

Will collect

  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Mattresses and bed frames
  • Wardrobes and large furniture
  • Fridges and freezers
  • Washing machines and other white goods
  • Bookcases and cabinets

Will not collect

  • Carpets and other floor coverings (not generally accepted; ask your carpet supplier to remove the old one when fitting a new one)
  • Building or DIY waste (rubble, bricks, tiles)
  • Garden waste
  • Hazardous waste, paint and chemicals
  • Car parts and tyres
  • Commercial or trade waste

Access rules and limitations

  • Crew will enter the house to remove items with your permission, so they arrive in the best condition for reuse, though outside collection is also offered
  • Items go to the White Lund Depot to be sorted for reuse or recycling
  • Cancellations need at least one clear working day's notice before the booked collection date for a refund

Kerbside-only rules are the norm across the UK; crews are not insured to enter your home. If nobody can get your items outside, see your options when you can't lift it.

No lifting at all with WasteSpeed: a two-person crew carry from any room of the house, on your area's route day each week, from £199. Book online →

Direct WebFetch to lancaster.gov.uk was blocked by the network egress proxy in this session, and r.jina.ai was also blocked, so this record is drawn from search-engine excerpts of the council's own bulky waste page. The council appears to have restructured its URLs (both /waste-and-recycling/household-waste/bulky-household-item-collection and /bins-and-recycling/bulky-household-item-collection paths were seen in search results); the one above matches the page title used in the most recent-looking result.
